How to apply fake tan
#1: Prepare your skin by exfoliating
Exfoliation is the main step when prepping your skin for fake tan. Focus on your knees, elbows and ankles, and shave up to the day before you apply the tan. When you’re all set, pin your hair up in a bun and make sure that your skin is free of any lotions, deodorants and perfumes.
#2: Apply a fake tan that suits your skin tone
Using a product that suits your skin tone, start at the bottom of your leg and apply from your ankles up. If you’re using a spritzer application, do so in circular motions. With an aerosol can, hold it 30 cm away from your body while spraying. Always blend the product into your neck and jawline. If you’re using a mousse tan, tap a small drop on your hands and rub gently over your face.
#3: Maintain your tan with a body oil or lotion
Use a body oil or lotion on your entire body twice a day to maintain your fake colour. It also helps to drink loads of water to keep your skin moisturised from the inside out. A well-kept fake tan can last up to two weeks.
